Scouting for Food Denver Area Council Service Project9Cares Colorado Shares

November 5-12, 2016

In 2016, we have partnered with 9News to “Scout for Food” to donate to the 9Cares Colorado Shares drive which provides food to over 100 food banks throughout the Metro area. Door hangers will be provided for Scouts to deliver to their neighborhoods beginning Saturday, November 5th with a request to fill a bag with food and pick up on the morning of Saturday, November 12th. Units may pick up Scouting for Food door hangers at the October roundtable meetings, University of Scouting, November roundtable meetings or at the Hamilton Scout Headquarters.

Units will need to total the amount of food items collected for their Scouting for Food report roster and then deliver to one of the 9Cares Colorado Shares collection sites on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All Scouting units are encouraged to participate in this Council-wide community service initiative. Scouting for Food participation will inspire our young people and teach them the importance of community service. Service is a key ingredient in Citizenship! It will also reinforce Scouting's positive contribution to the general community.

Each unit should select a Scouting for Food Coordinator and begin planning.

Troop/Crew Recruitment Helps

Recruiting is Year-Round

The Timberline District would like to help ensure your Unit is successful throughout the year, by challenging you to year-round recruiting in your unit. This will not only grow the membership in your unit, but will also grow your adult leadership.

Anytime you want to invite youth to your unit meeting or activity, simply submit the Sign Up for Scouting Night Materials Request Form and the District Membership team will prepare flyers, stickers, yard signs, buddy cards, and other materials for you. We are here to help you and to ensure that every youth has the opportunity to sign up for Scouting.
